Background information:
This position is required to support the enhancement and maintenance of enterprise storage and backup services, ensuring high availability, security, and performance of critical infrastructure. The role aims to strengthen the existing team by providing expert-level support and innovation for Storage and Backup solutions, addressing operational challenges, and improving automation.
The team consists of specialists in Storage and Backup Operations, working collaboratively across multiple locations. The position will provide support both internally and to partner organizations.
Required Profile:
The ideal candidate is a highly experienced storage and backup engineer with at least 8 years of hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and managing enterprise backup and storage environments. The role requires expertise in tier-3 troubleshooting, architectural design, and automation, working under the guidance of the Head, Infrastructure and Platform Management Unit.
The candidate is expected to operate with a high level of independence and actively contribute to service enhancements, automation, and process optimization.
Scope of Work / Duties of Consultant:
The consultant will be responsible for, including but not limited to:
• Providing Tier 3 support for storage and backup services, troubleshooting complex incidents, and mentoring Tier 1 and Tier 2 teams.
• Designing and implementing enterprise storage and backup architectures, ensuring alignment with business and security requirements.
• Optimizing storage and backup performance through monitoring, analysis, and continuous improvement strategies.
• Developing automation scripts and tools (e.g., Python, Ansible) to improve operational efficiency.
• Supporting service delivery and SLAs, ensuring availability and reliability of storage and backup infrastructure.
• Collaborating with vendors for maintenance, upgrades, and issue resolution of storage and backup solutions.
• Engaging with clients and stakeholders to provide pre-sales and post-sales support, including periodic service reviews and technical advisory.
• Maintaining technical documentation, business cases, and project proposals, ensuring knowledge transfer and best practices.
• Participating in new projects related to storage and backup services for within the organization and its partners.
Required Technical Skills:
The resource MUST have the following skills and experience:
• 8+ years of experience in managing and configuring Enterprise Storage and Backup Solutions.
• Strong expertise in the design, implementation, and innovation of storage and backup services.
• Hands-on experience with enterprise storage and backup technologies, including; HP 3PAR, PowerStore, NetApp, EMC Data Domain, EMC ECS, and Veeam.
• Expert-level troubleshooting and problem resolution for storage and backup infrastructures.
• Experience installing, deploying and troubleshooting fiber channel fabrics (Cisco MDS, Brocade, etc)
• Proficiency in scripting and automation using Python, Ansible, or similar tools.
• Strong understanding of data protection, disaster recovery, and best practices in backup and storage management.
• Excellent analytical skills and ability to optimize performance and operational efficiency.
The resource SHOULD have the following skills and experience:
• Experience with Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI) or Software-Defined Storage (SDS).
• Familiarity with cloud storage solutions (e.g., AWS S3, Azure Blob Storage, AvePoint). • Experience with service reporting, business analytics, and performance optimization.
• Knowledge of virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).

• Industry-recognized certifications in Storage, Backup, or Cloud Technologies.
• IT Service Management and Project Management certifications, such as:
• ITIL, ISO 20000, PRINCE2.
