Background information:

This position is required to provide skilled, experienced, and service-oriented Storage and Backup Administrators to provide operational support to Storage and Backup infrastructure either within the organization or for partner entities. The purpose of the position is to play a key role in managing the onboarding of new services, adapting to changes in technology and customer needs, and ensuring that storage and backup solutions are implemented effectively.

The candidates must be flexible, able to work in a highly collaborative environment, grasp new concepts quickly, have an open mind, prioritize across multiple competing tasks, work independently as a technical administrator, and be able to complete tasks on time.


Required Profile:

The ideal candidate is an experienced Storage and Backup Administrator with at least 5 years of hands-on experience in supporting, managing, and optimizing enterprise storage and backup environments. The candidate will work under the guidance of the Team Lead, Storage and Backup Operations, and collaborate with other infrastructure support teams. The candidate is expected to demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, a proactive approach to service improvements, and the ability to work independently while supporting a team-oriented environment.


Scope of Work / Duties of Consultant:

The incumbent will perform the following duties:

Provide operational support in the administration and management of the organization’s Storage and Backup systems as well as customer dedicated systems, including but not limited to:

•         Provide technical support to the storage and backup infrastructure systems (daily checks, storage provisioning, host integration, configuration of backup clients, upgrades, PoCs, schedules, and retentions, etc.)

•         Assist with the resolution of incidents and problems, service requests related to Storage and Backup infrastructure; escalate problems to the appropriate technical support team as per escalation procedure 

•         Monitor, analyze and optimize the performances of storage and backup systems

•         Coordinate with vendors the replacement of failed Backup, Storage & SAN components

•         Create and maintain detailed technical and graphical documentation as needed 

•         Participate in service coverage arrangement such as stand-by/on-call duty services and other support coverage arrangements, if & when required

•         Participate in the development/update of tools and scripts to improve and automate the Storage and Enterprise Backup operations

•         Participate in the deployment of new projects related to backup and storage solutions for within the organization and its partner entities

•         The incumbent may be required to act as Officer-In-Charge of the Unit, during the absence of the Team Leader 

•         Other: Provide other ad hoc support either within the team or in other teams as required – this includes the participation in special projects or support to service delivery for short period of time on a part-time or full-time basis upon request from the senior management


Required Technical Skills: 

The resource MUST have the following skills and experience:

•         Minimum 5 years of relevant IT work experience in supporting and/or operating enterprise Storage and Backup environments and related services in a complex heterogenous environment

•         Excellent experience administering and troubleshooting storage arrays from different vendors (e.g., HP 3PAR, DELL Compellent and NetApp)

•         Excellent knowledge in the installation and administration of Enterprise Backup systems (e.g., EMC Avamar, EMC Data Domain, EMC ECS, NetBackup, Veeam B&R and other market leaders in backup solutions)

•         Solid understanding and knowledge of storage technologies (Fabric switches, VSANs, WWPNs, NPIV, multipathing, Fibre channel, iSCSI

•         Experience troubleshooting fiber channel fabrics (Cisco MDS, Brocade, etc)

•         Sound technical knowledge of storage replication technologies and host integration best practices. 

•         Good understanding and knowledge of networking technologies 

•         Working Experience in shell scripting and automation tools (e.g., Python, Ansible) 

•         Ability to work under pressure with minimum supervision

•         Customer-centric approach to delivery and problem solving

•         Good knowledge of ITIL service management methodology

The resource SHOULD have the following skills and experience:

•         Experience with Hyper Converged Infrastructure or Software Defined Storage solutions is an advantage

•         Good presentation skills and ability to convey complex technical information to non-technical audience

•         Experience with service reporting and business analytics

•         Experience with cloud storage solutions (e.g., AWS S3, Azure Blob Storage)

•         Knowledge of data protection and disaster recovery best practices

•         Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V)

•         IT diploma

•         Industry related certifications 

•         Certifications in any programming language or scripting framework (e.g., Python, Ansible, PowerShell).

•         ITIL, ISO20000, PRINCE2 certifications
