IdealStaffs Consulting is looking for a Web Linux Administrator who will be responsible for delivering on-going administration and support for the Web Hosting Service.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Administration of system/software configurations and troubleshoot Linux/Open Source based environment issues, in close collaboration with Application Development teams.
Document and improve upon processes, procedures, and best practices to align with industry standards and customer needs
Perform system administration of web and application servers.
Provide recommendations on configuration improvements.
Analyze and identify key areas for automation and optimization, including improvements in system performance, processes, and deployments.
Develop system tools and utilities (e.g. scripts) to support the web infrastructure.
Coordinating maintenance and outages with infrastructure and business groups
The standard work day is 8 hours per day with the possibility of overtime to cover weekends, holidays and to cover standard out of hours work. In addition, the resource will perform 7 x 24 on call support when required. The 8 hours may be performed following Geneva business hours or New York business hours.
Functional Knowledge and Skills:
Deployment of Application code upgrades/updates/hotfixes based on defined procedures.
Expert knowledge of Open Source Web Servers like Nginx, Tomcat, Apache and WSGI interfaces like gUnicorn.
Experience with Docker Containers.
Expert scripting knowledge of Django, Python.
Experience with Open Source RDBMS - MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL including key-value data stores like Redis.
Hands-on experience with the administration and setup of task queues with Celery and RabbitMQ
Good knowledge about web & applications performance monitoring.
Prior experience in System Administration and operating systems (Linux/Windows).
Experience with Atlassian tools for the support of CI/CD infrastructure pipelines.
Ability to grasp complex concepts, logical and analytical approach to solving problems.
Knowledge of ITIL service management methodology
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks around changing priorities
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Ability to produce documentation for Agile delivery
Excellent interpersonal and client service skills
Must be willing to participate in a 7 x 24 on call support program and flexible hours including some weekends and evenings.
Experience with PHP based Web application management and troubleshooting from an infrastructure perspective, including but not limited to Drupal, WordPress and Moodle.
Knowledge of Cloud-Based services (IaaS & Paas) in AWS, Azure & GCP.
Minimum 5 years working experience as Web Applications Administrator with a significant exposure to Python based applications.
Excellent knowledge of English is required
