IT Project Manager (Remote)

Experience
Good knowledge and sound understanding of IT fundamentals and technologies pertinent to creating business solutions i.e. software development and testing, architecture, applications, databases, integration infrastructure and networks;
Must be technologically savvy, demonstrating the ability to easily adapt to new and unfamiliar technologies, software, and systems;
Skills in general infrastructure, including system configurations, clustering, performance, and security;
Experience working in projects, application performance and tuning;
Apply industry standards and best practices in writing and performing basic testing and comply with security standards and policies for the produced artefacts.
Agile or SCRUM Project participation experience
Experience in producing technical documentation
Duties
Strategy & Planning
Detail project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.
Track project milestones and deliverables.
Determine the frequency and content of status reports from the project teams, analyze results, and troubleshoot problem areas.
Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project life cycle.
Assess project benefits realization and evaluate after project closure.
Conduct project ‘lessons learned’ and create a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management.
Acquisition & Deployment
Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals.
Draft and submit budget proposals, and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary.
Where required, negotiate with other department managers for the acquisition of required personnel from within the company.
Determine and assess need for additional staff and/or consultants and make the appropriate recruitments if necessary during project cycle.
Operational Management
Direct and manage project development from beginning to end.
Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents.
Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team.
Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.
Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.
Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.
Participate in quality management activities.
Manage project risks and issues throughout the project duration.
Build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project.
Requirements
Ten years or more of progressively responsible professional experience in information technology and/or related area, including at least four years (4) working in project management
Experience in managing projects in a multi-cultural environment
Experience in producing technical documentation including user requirement documents, proposals in response to project requirements
Experience in drafting processes and procedures documentation
Experience in working with Microsoft office tools and Microsoft Project
Knowledge of Project management best practices, AGILE/SCRUM, and/or PRINCE2/PMP
Good knowledge of the ITIL framework
Knowledge of incident and issue management
Knowledge of managing and / or working with teams including virtual and remote teams
Excellent customer service skills, good telephone manners, good interpersonal skills, influencing skills and ability to work under pressure and with minimum supervision
Knowledge of managing budgets
Knowledge of another UN language is an advantage
Desirable
Relevant industry certifications
ITIL and Prince2 awareness
Atlassian Jira and Confluence
Microsoft Planner would be a plus
Soft Skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and collaborative skills.
High degree of initiative, dependability and ability to work with little supervision.
High level of personal integrity, as well as the ability to professionally handle confidential matters, and show an appropriate level of judgment and maturity.
Ability to deliver quality results.
Expert knowledge of English is required (Oral and Written).
Knowledge of another UN language is desirable.
