IdealStaffs Consulting is looking for a collaborative and motivated network engineer with a growth mindset who wants to support the UN family to reach their sustainable development goals. The candidate must be flexible, able to work in a highly collaborative environment, prioritize across multiple competing tasks, and be able to complete tasks on time.


Provide on-call support (either on-site or remotely using VPN connectivity) outside normal working hours as required on a rotational basis

  • On-call required one week per month (rotation is subject to the number of team members)

Scope of Work/Assigned Duties


Leadership

  • Provide strategic guidance for network services as required

  • Manage network projects

  • Assist the Service Owner and Team Lead in the delivery of Service Delivery Agreements (SDAs) to customers

  • Assist with the coordination, preparation, presentation and implementation of proposals and projects linked to the SDAs

  • Be a go-to expert for troubleshooting network related issues

  • Liaise with Partner Organizations on a service management basis IT Infrastructure and Platform Consultants

Service Management

  • Manage, prioritize and take ownership of tasks assigned to the network services team as required o includes service requests, change requests, incidents, project tasks and others as required

  • Monitor and take ownership of tasks assigned to network services team ensuring completion within SLA targets Technical Support

  • Provide support for all network services SDAs

  • Design, install, configure and support network infrastructure

  • Assist in the design, development, implementation and maintenance of network automation tasks using Ansible and related technologies

  • Other network administration tasks as required:

  1. Co-ordinate with vendor support for resolution of problems and incidents

  2. Perform troubleshooting and performance tuning activities as required

  3. Apply network patches, updates and perform upgrades

  4. Assist in the planning and running of disaster recovery tests

  5. Perform capacity management and reporting as required

  6. Produce documentation as required o Perform support activities during planned maintenance windows outside of normal working hours

  7. Perform other duties as required


Required Technical Skills:


The consultant MUST have the following skills and experience:

  • Extensive experience with large networks

  • Extensive knowledge and support experience of at least some of the following:

  1. Cisco routers and switches

  2. Check Point and Cisco firewalls

  3. Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI)

  4. Cisco Meraki

  5. F5 Application Delivery Controllers

  6. PulseSecure SSL VPN

  7. VMware NSX-T

  • Minimum of 10 years experience

The candidate SHOULD have the following skills and experience:

  • Experience with Ansible or other automation technologies

  • Experience in writing technical proposals and service guides

Required Soft Skills:

  • Willingness to learn on the job and adjust roles as required

  • Customer facing experience and oral communication skills

  • Support of a diverse workplace

  • Ability to write documentation & reports

  • Creativity/ ability to find innovative solutions

  • Conflict management & cooperation

Desirable certifications:

  • Cisco CCIE or CCNP

  • Check Point CCSM or CCSE

  • ITIL Service Management intermediate or expert

  • Prince2 foundation
