Work Arrangement: On-site (Relocation required / No remote work available)

Duration: Initial 6 months, extendable based on performance

Teleworking: Possible, up to 2-3 days per week.

On-call: One week per month, subject to team rotation and occasional exceptional requirements

IdealStaffs Consulting seeks to engage a storage and backup specialist to support our client's shared services infrastructure operations and managed infrastructure for their customers.


Required Qualifications:

Seeking a Storage and Backup Engineer with over 7 years of hands-on experience in market-leading storage (DELL EMC, HPE, Netapp, Cisco, Brocade, etc.) and backup solutions (EMC, Veeam, etc.). An understanding of enterprise networking (Ethernet and TCP/IP) is advantageous. Responsibilities include daily management activities involving enterprise backup and storage infrastructure such as monitoring, configuring, troubleshooting, and deploying Storage and Backup subsystems.


Key Responsibilities: 

  • Administration of Storage and Backup infrastructure systems

  • Technical support for storage and backup infrastructure users (Connectivity, performance, troubleshooting, etc.)

  • Management of backup clients, schedules, and retentions

  • Performance monitoring and evaluation of storage and backup services

  • Coordination for replacing failed Backup, Storage & SAN components and service restoration

  • Creation and maintenance of detailed technical and graphical documentation

  • Development/updating tools and scripts to automate Storage and Enterprise Backup operations

  • Leadership in complex projects involving storage solutions and products for mid-large environments

  • On-call rotation-based support outside of business hours

  • Additional duties as required


Required Skills:

  • Proven experience in administering and troubleshooting storage arrays from various vendors (e.g., HP 3PAR, DELL Compellent, Netapp, etc.)

  • Strong understanding of storage technologies (Fabric switches, VSANs, WWPNs, NPIV, multi-pathing, Fiber channel, iSCSI, etc.)

  • Sound technical knowledge of storage replication technologies and host integration best practices

  • Hands-on experience with fiber channel fabrics (Cisco MDS and Brocade)

  • Extensive knowledge in the installation and administration of Enterprise Backup systems (EMC Avamar, EMC Data Domain, EMC ECS, Veeam B&R)

  • Familiarity with Automated Tape Libraries and Tape/Disk Backup Management products

  • Good grasp of networking technologies (Ethernet, Routing, ARP, TCP/IP, LACP, etc.)

  • Experience in shell scripting and automation tools (PowerShell, Perl, Bash, Python, Ansible…)

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English for technical documentation


Desirable Skills and Experience: 

  • Veritas or Spanning for O365 backup solutions

  • Hyper Converged Infrastructure or Software Defined Storage solutions

  • Knowledge of Linux and MS Windows Operating Systems and Windows Clusters administration

  • Familiarity with VMware, OVM/OLVM, and Hyper-V virtualization technologies

Desirable Certifications: 

  • EMC Avamar, Data Domain, or ECS
