IdealStaffs seeks a Business Continuity / Disaster Recovery Consultant to facilitate the execution of internal or external projects related to one or more well-known international organizations part of the United Nations family.

The consultant will work under the direct supervision and guidance of the Head, Business Continuity within the Cybersecurity Division and in close collaboration with the Cyber Security team. Also, could be requested to do any other tasks of similar level in related fields.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development, documentation and review of BC/DR vision, strategy, processes, plans, risk assessments, and recovery solutions for Business Continuity (BC) and Disaster Recovery (DR) consulting, guidance, and recommendations

  • Perform assessments and gap analysis of organizational business continuity management systems and disaster recovery plans

  • Conduct Business Impact Analysis (BIA) with business programs to identify critical business functions, processes and the underpinning IT resources and systems. Recommend solutions to manage and mitigate identified risks from the BIA

  • Support and coordinate BC/DR projects including information gathering, scoping, planning, implementation, etc.

  • Develop, coordinate, and facilitate the execution of BC/DR awareness training and test/drill exercises. Facilitate knowledge transfer as needed

  • Provide support during the audit and help with the implementation and remediation of the audit recommendations

  • Provide continuity support in case of major incidents or other significant events affecting the UN or Partner organizations

  • Provide other ad hoc support either within your team or in other teams as required – this includes the participation in special projects or support to service delivery for short period of time on a part-time or full-time basis upon request from the senior management.

  • Perform assessments and gap analysis using the ISO 22301:2019 requirements

  • Perform risk assessment, develop and recommend solutions to manage and mitigate the identified continuity risks

  • Assist in the design, development, and implementation of recovery solutions

  • Perform other related duties and fulfil responsibilities as required

Functional Knowledge and Skills:

  • Expertise in business continuity planning, business impact analysis, crisis/incident management, emergency preparedness, and tools/systems associated with these functions

  • Expertise in, and can speak authoritatively about, any hazards that potentially threaten an organization’s continuity of business

  • Ability to recommend appropriate response and recovery strategies

  • Ability to teach and train small and large groups either in person, or using cloud based tools

  • Interact with all levels, including executives, involved in the maintenance, review, approval, testing, and communication of business continuity and crisis management plans

  • Project Management skills and ability to prepare and manage project plans


Education:

Essential:

  • University degree in computer or information science, Information Technology, Mathematics, electrical engineering, or similar degree

  • One or more certifications in business continuity or disaster recovery from a recognized institution (i.e. CBCI, CBCP, EDRP or CBCM)

  • Certification in ISO 22301:2019 (implementer or auditor)

Desirable

  • One or more certifications related to business continuity or disaster recovery (i.e., CISSP, ISO 27001, 20000, etc.)

  • Training in any ITIL or SANS certifications

  • Certification(s) in Project Management: Agile, PMP or Prince2

Experience:

Essential:

  • Three years or more of experience in business continuity / disaster recovery

  • Experience in Business Continuity audits, particularly ISO 22301:2019

  • Experience in

o Risk management

o Business impact analysis

o Project management

  • Demonstrated documentation skills combined with strong verbal and written skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment

Desirable:

  • Experience in information security or infrastructure management (on premises or cloud-based environments)

  • Experience in audits, such as ISO 27001, ISO 20000, NFPA 1600, or NCEMA standards

  • Strong knowledge of Azure and AWS Cloud deployments

  • Experience in Incident Management or Incident Response

Languages:

  • Fluency in English is required;

  • Knowledge of another UN language is desirable
