AWS/GCP Cloud Engineer (Valencia, Spain)

Duties and Responsibilities:

IdealStaffs Consulting is looking for a Cloud Engineer consultant for our customer who will be responsible for delivering AWS technical expertise within the Cloud Services Section, including the implementation and on-going support of AWS and GCP services for UN clients.

The scope of work includes:

  • Design, build, implementation, and delivery of scalable AWS and GCP solutions, with a focus on IaaS and PaaS;

  • Review and manage technical requirements and business functional requirements to establish new cloud platforms and infrastructures;

  • Execute assessment, migration and implementation plans to deploy AWS infrastructures and move workloads to AWS using native AWS migration or third-party tools;

  • Support the evolution of the AWS and GCP services through the design and implementation of new service features;

  • Work in close collaboration with other technical teams including Information Security, Architecture, Service Management, etc.

  • Improve internal efficiency and customers satisfaction by finding opportunities to optimize existing processes and tools;

  • Technical documentation and related procedures and operations;

The standard work day is 8 hours per day with the possibility of overtime to cover weekends, holidays and to cover standard out of hours work. In addition, the resource will perform 7 x 24 on call support when required. The 8 hours may be performed following Geneva business hours or New York business hours.

Functional Knowledge and Skills:

Essential

  • Thorough understanding of Public Cloud technologies, i.e. GCP and AWS.

  • Proficient on core IaaA and PaaS AWS and GCP services.

  • Proven experience in System Administration and operating systems (Linux/Windows).

  • Experience with Open Source RDBMS - MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL

  • Experience of cloud based metering and monitoring tools

  • Knowledge of container architectures and deployments in cloud environments (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)

  • Scripting with Python, Bash, Go or similar languages and source code control like Git

  • Ability to grasp complex concepts, logical and analytical approach to solving problems

  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks around changing priorities

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

  • Ability to produce documentation for Agile delivery

  • Knowledge of ITIL service management methodology

  • Excellent interpersonal and client service skills

  • Must be willing to participate in a 7 x 24 on call support program and flexible hours including some weekends and evenings.

Desirable

  • Certification in GCP and/or AWS (professional level preferred).

  • Understanding of automation technologies such as Terraform and configuration management such as Ansible.

  • Solid understanding of AWS Account Structure, Core Organization Services and IAM;

  • Knowledge of CI/CD infrastructure pipelines.

Experience:

  • Minimum 2-5 years working experience with system administration and cloud administration, with significant exposure to GCP and AWS.

Languages:

  • Excellent knowledge of English is required
